Building Community to End Poverty
Our Mission
At Circles, we build community to end poverty through intentional friendships, personal transformation, and systemic change led by the people closest to the challenge.
Data from 80+ Circles chapters across the US and Canada demonstrates that program participants increase their income by 76% on average after 18 months.
Our vision is that all individuals live in equitable, thriving communities where poverty no longer exists.
The Circles Model
How it works:
Starting with Circles: We begin with a 12-week class where participants learn financial literacy and goal-setting specifically designed for people who don’t make enough money.
Community & Connection: After the 12-week class, we connect each participant with two volunteers who encourage and walk alongside participants as they implement their budgets and begin to achieve their SMART goals.
Support over Time: Surrounded by volunteers, called “Allies”, who have landed jobs, negotiated a lease, or managed credit card debt, people experiencing poverty are more equipped to achieve long-term financial stability. Allies share encouragement, connections to resources, and their social capital over 18 months because life change takes time!
